Beach and Bay Field Trip

The Students at Oppe Elementary take a Trip to the Beach and the Bay

with Artist Boat!

3rd grade students and their teachers spent the day with a non-profit organization called Artist Boat who taught the students about the beach and the bay. Students visited Galveston Island's State Park where they were able to access both the beach and the bay in order to compare their habitats.

On the bay side students seined with instructors and analyzed the different plants and animals they discovered.

On the beach side students seined with instructors, participated in a scavenger hunt, and explored their environment which they took notes on their findings. Students collected shells and compared the different ones they had found.

Students also had an art lesson. They learned how to paint nature scenes with water colors. This gave them the opportunity to observe nature and all its beauty!
