Garden Club

By:

Garden Club students participate in a variety of gardening activities. Student LOVE working in the garden by composting, weeding, creating and planting an edible garden, and making the garden beautiful through garden art.

The spring planting year has been most exciting. We have created a crate garden inspired by the gardens in New York. We planted and watched a variety of edibles grow such as greens, herbs, radishes, peas, kholrabi, cabbage, strawberries, and a variety of onions. We have discussed using recycled objects to create a garden and how we can create edible environments through organic practices. The students really loved fertilizing with natural fish oils.

We also started a lovely tire garden of annuals and have helped watch over the first grades tomato, pea, and squash plants.

We have also talked about habitats. Helping our natural negley garden habitat by maintaining the most lovely pond.

Garden club is also very very creative. They are participating in the Rock the Porch Kyle art initiative which is creating a one of a kind rocking chair complete with a topiary man that will rock every so slightly in the wind as he watches the garden.
