Post Waste Audit
Purpose: To figure out how much trash we reduced by recycling and to find out the winner of the recycling competition
How did we do this? In order to calculate how much trash we reduced and how much recycling we gathered we held a post waste audit. At this audit we went around the school and gathered all of the trash. We then weighed all the trash to see how much trash the school used in that one day.
Results of waste collection: The total amount of trash we gathered was 33lbs. this is 74% decrease in trash from the original 125lbs we collected in one day.
Gathering Recycling: We then gathered and weighed all the recycling from the different classrooms that had bins.
Results of recycling collection: We gathered a total of 245lbs of recycling!!!!
The class with the most recycling won the recyling competition.
Mrs. Frazier's 8th grade math class won with 82lbs of recycling!!!!!!!!!
In order to keep this recycling going one of the classes is going to empty the recycling bins around the school every week.
