Story: You are a teenager that has been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, a condition which will cause sugar to build up in your blood if your health is not managed. Your family cannot afford to pay for medication so the doctor recommends that you begin to live a healthy lifestyle, which includes eating the right foods and regular exercise. But . . . you’ve never exercised for fitness and you have no idea what foods are the “right” foods. Who can help you?
Your NEW personal trainer, Fitness Fiona, will come to the rescue!
Objective: The objective of the game is to not go over your personalized caloric intake for breakfast, lunch, and dinner when you choose foods from the shelves. Consuming too many calories will cause you to not proceed to the next level and you lose the game.
Audience: Target audience are unhealthy teenagers specifically between the ages of 15 and 18. The individual will not receive accurate caloric goals if they are over 6 feet tall and over 300 pounds.
Health Lesson: Technology can play a very important role in the path to healthy eating and regular exercise.
- The internet has excellent and official resources/websites such as livestrong.com where people can learn the right information about healthy weight loss or healthing living.
- Portable music players, mp3 players, iPods, and other forms of stereos or boom-boxes are extremely useful for people who want to exercise but do not enjoy exercising and want a way to make exercising fun. Studies have shown that listening to music while exercising improves quality and duration of the exercise. (livestrong.com)
