Energy Vampire March
By:
Barton Middle School was outfitted with all new energy saving LED lights this year. The lights not only provided energy effeciency, but stronger and brighter candle strength for safety and security. As part of the ongoing energy savings focus, the school participated in the district Vampire March over the winter break and spring break. All energy vampires were identified (usually those appliances that have a lighted screen of some sort) The offending vampires were unplugged over the breaks. Students and teachers alike took part in the vampire hunt and using their audit were able to unplug and power down. Barton was named one of the winners of the Winter Break March and won $437.00! The check was presented to the school and the money was used to support one of our outdoor initiatives this spring.
