Eagle Scout Project History
By:
The spring of 2013 saw Boy Scouts from Troop 413 hauling lumber, scaling scaffolding, and wielding paint brushes as they helped erect a 20' by 20' pergola for our outdoor classroom. Soon, volunteers completed the job with limestone and brick pavers. Since the creation of the Redeemer Nature Gardens, 21 scouts from Troop 413 have achieved their Eagle Scout certification through Nature Gardens projects.
In recent years, Eagle Scout Projects have included:
2500 gallon rainwater system – dispersing collected water to the elementary vegetable garden and Outdoor Classroom.
Scout Garden – xeriscaped area for birds and beauty.
“The Pump House” – a watering can station with 3 old-fashioned water pumps for use in our Herb Gardens for Meals On Wheels and other garden projects.
Pergola – a 20’ x 20’ arbor-shaded meeting area on our Outdoor Classroom, paved with bricks smooth and comfortable for seating.
Gaga Pit – built for sport, for students of all ages. The Best in the West!
Dry Creek – Constructed to solve a variety of problems from rainwater drainage to pedestrian safety, the project highlights a heritage Redeemer School sign and beautifies a garden area.
