Cornerstone: Eco-Campus (Water conservation)
Name of Project: Rain, rain, don't go away!
Goal/Purpose of project: The goal is to build 40 rain barrels to place around our campus for harvesting
rain water to use in watering our gardens. This will teach students about one
alternative for water conservation.
Participants: Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Center will hold a workshop on our campus for
our families. 40 parents/students will volunteer to build rain barrels for use
around our campus, and other families will be able to register to build a rain
barrel for their home use.

Cornerstone: Nature Adventure (Nature Spaces)
Name of Project: How will our garden grow?
Goal/Purpose of project: Students will have the opportunity to help in the further development of our
garden. In the Art and Garden classes, they will discuss different types of
garden beds that can be built and added to the garden area we already have.
We want each class to eventually have their own bed. Real School Gardens will
be helping us enlarge our garden in the Spring of 2013, so we want to give our
students the challenge of being a garden designer and landscaper.

Cornerstone: Health & Fitness (Nutrition and Healthy Eating)
Name of Project: Sugar-Free Plum Jelly from Kramer Gardens
Goal/Purpose of project: Students will have the opportunity to gather Mexican plums from our 2 trees
and make plum jelly. They will use science, math and writing skills to make and sell the
jelly. Students will have the opportunity to taste the jelly and create posters to sell the
jelly schoolwide. The money raised will be put in the garden account for future supplies.

Cornerstone: Natural Classrooms (Field Investigation)
Name of Project: Seeds for Sale
Goal/Purpose of project: Students will gather seeds from our vegetable and flower beds each growing
season. They will package and label the seeds to sell and raise money for our
garden account. They can take the seeds home and use them in their own
gardens.
