Zip-line and Swing
By:
Sky Ranch is a leadership camp that teaches children leadership skills. Campers get special activities fit to their skills.
Northstar School went to Sky Ranch a few weeks ago. One thing they did at Sky Ranch was the zip line. They taught us how to gear up then we walked down the path to the zip line. One of the things they taught us was how to strap up, how tight the harness should feel, and how to take care of the hook. We got up to the top of the tower and waited in line with our classmates to go down the lines. When it was time to hook up to the wire, they taught us how. The jumped off after we were hooked up and zoomed down the line. After we got off and rode it again a few more times. It was an amazing experience.
Another thing we did was the swing. The swing is an area set up by the lake. Three people sit on a swing and a mechanical machine pulls you way up back. Someone pulls a cord and you swing off. It was pretty fun. There was a challenge though. We had a target to hit with a stuffed animal. Each person gets a stuffed animal and we drop them on the first swing. There were points you could get when you hit the target. It taught us persistence. It also taught us to examine where you should drop the animal in order to hit the target with the law of physics.
Northstar School learned many things with leadership at Sky Ranch.
