Project Title: Rain Water Barrels
Rain Barrels - Rainwater Harvesting
By: RMCA
Students and staff at Rainbow Community School benefit from rain water barrels. They are installed throughout campus and help to irrigate campus vegetable gardens, bird gardens, and the water feature on the playground.
The water feature uses recycled water from rain. The posts used to construct the feature itself were dead locusts that our school carpenter found and repurposed them as boundaries. Students can turn the water on or off as they play.
Water from the rain barrels help to irrigate nearby gardens. This particular rain barrel helps to irrigate the garden behind it and captures water from the water spout.
This is another water barrel that helps to irrigate the 4th grade vegetable gardens.
