About School Walk for Diabetes
The American Diabetes Association School Walk for Diabetes is an educational fundraising program that promotes healthy living, school spirit and community involvement. Students learn about Diabetes and the importance of healthy foods and exercising every day.
Our 5th Annual Walk/Run
All 634 Carpenter Hill Elementary students run or walk the track to raise money to help find a cure for Diabetes. Five laps around the track equals one mile. During our specials time, each class level runs or walks the track. Everyone also has the opportunity to play Gaga Pit, get a painted mustache and take a picture with a Minion! This year we raised $7,414.86. Students raise money by donations from family and friends. A student is also able to set up a donation page online to help make collecting donations easier.
We ran 3,292 laps! This was enough to have a special assembly to slime Mr. Certain and Ms. Brown! Carpenter Hill Elementary earned a special trophy for being the 7th highest fundraiser for School Walk for Diabetes in the whole United States!!
Coach Mangrum and Coach Castille taught us, in order to live a healthy life, you must eat healthy and exercise 60 minutes a day. Each year, we run as many laps as we can...remembering that we are running for a cause.
