Fourth graders went on a field trip to the Medina River Natural Area this May.  In 4th grade Science students explore how adaptations enable organisms to survive in their environment such as comparing leaves on plants.  One of the organisms students observed was the mesquite tree.  Students learned that their small leaves help minimize the evaporation of the plant's water into the air.
