Let's Go Outside! Exploration
By:
75 ecology students of Eisenhower High School participated in a variety of activities to explore the new grounds of the newly opened high school as well as adjacent habitats.
Students completed a quadrant sampling of the newly restored grasses area adjacent to the school. This area was disturbed by the high school construction and has now been restored with native grasses, rye and wheat.
The aquatic pond (part of the run off drainage basin for the campus) has attracted 40 different species of birds to date. Animals such as deer and c0yote have been seen drinking at the pond.
Students were amazed as to how they could "track" their fellow students using a scent trail. Lots of competition and creatively in marking trails by various teams resulted.
