Jorge's Healthy Video Game Page

Story: S.A.M is a game I designed to show the importance of antioxidants in a diet. In the story, you take the roll of Super Antioxidant Man. His mission is to protect his host, Will, from the evil Free Radical and his agents by using the power of antioxidants.

Objective: The objective is to make the right healthy choices in each level while also avoiding the bad guys, so that you can make it to the goal block at the end of each level.  Good luck and enjoy. 

Audience: This game and lesson is intended for an audience of all ages. Young kids to adults.

Team Members: Jorge, Amy, David

Health Lesson: Antioxidants are substances that protect your cells from the negative effects of Free radicals. Free Radicals are unstable molecules that are created when food is broken down. These molecules are missing an electron and "attach" themselves to your cells to gain said electron.

Eating more fruits and vegetables in your diet will improve your health and better your immune system. Although some foods have more antioxidants than others, any amount is beneficial to your health. Two main antioxidants are Vitamins C and E and can be found in colorful fruits and vegetables- like those in red, blue, purple, and yellow.

Examples of antioxidant rich foods:

  Vitamin C   

Oranges, Papaya, Kiwi, Mangoes, Strwaberries, Plums, Carrots, Red Bell Peppers

   

  Vitamin E

 Carrots, Broccoli, Nuts, Pumpkins, Red Peppers
