Fall Festival Art Contest and Recycling

By:

Students had fun designing and coloring boxes to be used for recycling during our annual fall festival. Habitat for Humanity provided the large cardboard boxes. Students were provided with a large piece of heavy duty white paper and crayons and used the theme "Care for Creation" for the art contest.

The boxes were placed throughout the festival grounds to collect plastic water bottles and aluminum cans. The boxes were emptied each night by middle school students and seperated. The aluminum cans were donated to Habitat for Humanity and the plastic water bottles went to a local recycle plant. At the end of the festival the students donated six large bags of aluminum cans and recycled eight large bags of water bottles.
