Students Learn about Nutrition!

Students learned about nutrition and fitness through a variety of modes of learning. They worked in the school garden to see where food comes from. They participated in taste testing using fresh foods they might not have eaten and new recipies for snacks prepared by Food for Thought volunteers. Lessons focused on farm-to-table concepts, reading food labels, and healthy lifestyles. Students enjoyed new tastes and the importance of knowing what is in the food purchased in the store. Students' learning was also reinforced by playing a Bingo game created by a local physician--how to make the best healthy food choices and the value of daily exercise. Students were excited about new foods and tastes and felt empowered to learn what is in purchased food. They took this knowledge home to share with their families.
