On April 22 more than one billion people around the globe participate in Earth Day. Ascension Catholic School will celebrate Earth Week from April 22-April 26. All year long we encourage our students to care for God's beautiful creation. During Earth Week we promote awareness and appreciation for the Earth's environment, sustainable living and earth awareness. Earth Week is also known as National Green Week. We want to help raise awareness, recycle, and conserve energy and we are happy to do our part.

Our Earth Week celebration was a lot of fun. Many students and teachers wore green clothing and some designed original t-shirts to raise awareness on the importance of working together to make a difference. Throughtout the week environmentally friendly activities and lessons were designed to inspire awareness of our beautiful planet. On Tuesday we focused on reduce, reuse, recycle. Students were encouraged to pack a waste free lunch. Students brought in over 100 styrofoam egg cartons to be brought to Publix for recycling. Lights out day was a big hit. Students learned the importance of saving energy and money by turning off lights and appliances when not in use. Friday morning every student was given a handprint cutout and wrote what they learned about the environment or what they plan to do to go green. The handprints were displayed in the cafeteria around a world to show how working together we can change the world.
