Wear Your Colors
By:
Wear Your Colors was a week long event held school wide to promote healthy food choices while at home and school. A note was sent home with each family explaining the color of the day, and examples of "go" foods that were that color. The cafeteria offered food choices for the color of the day, and students and staff were encouraged to wear that color. Teachers talked with students in the classroom about healthy food choices. At lunch, if a student chose and ate the "go" food choice, they were given a ticket. These were placed in a drawing, and the winners received outdoor play equipment as a prize. To culminate the program, the Kindergarten classes performed for their parents. Each class wore a different color and represented the "rainbow" of healthy choice foods.
